CCB Senior Management Visited the Campus
On Thursday, 17 October 2019, PHBS-UK and the CCB executives welcomed a visit from the heads of CCB University – Mr Aiming Yang and Ms Xinlei Sun. They were accompanied by the HR Manager of CCB London Branch, Ms Xiao Zhang. It was indeed an honour for both PHBS-UK and the CCB executives to host Mr Yang and Ms Sun as they were the ones who spearheaded the International Banking Leadership Programme for China Construction Bank here at the UK Campus of PHBS.
After their arrival, our dignitaries were invited to take a group picture with the CCB executives, and PHBS-UK staff. It was a poignant moment because the CCB executives were nearing the end of their training programme here at PHBS-UK.
The first item of the visit was a round-table meeting with the CCB executives in the Lecture Hall. Prof Guy Liu, head of PHBS-UK gave a welcome speech. In his speech, Prof Liu highlighted the main aims and goals of the programme and commended the CCB executives for achieving the high standards set by CCB as well as PHBS-UK. Next, Mr Eric Smith, the Director of the English Department delivered his report on the excellent progress of the CCB executives. Mr Smith highlighted that the CCB executives and the English teachers worked tirelessly and it is due to their hard work that such excellent results were achieved. After which, Ms Louise Davis represented all the English teachers to comment on the daily work that the teachers and the executives did as well as present the plans for the C2 Cambridge Business English Examination in November.
One of the highlights of the meeting was a presentation by CCB’s executive representative, Mr Jianhao Xu, who gave a report on his internship experience. Mr Xu gave anecdotes of his experience and talked about how he used the skills he learned from his Business English classes to act as a translator. Next, 5 CCB representatives each gave a report on their group research project and the progress of their research.
Mr Yang and Ms Sun were very pleased with the reports and the performance by the CCB executives. Mr Yang praised the executives for all their hard work over the past nine months and he left them with 2 very meaningful and very wise sayings that will stay with them all for a long time to come:
“Watch your thoughts, they become words; Watch your words, they become actions; Watch your actions, they become habits; Watch your habits, they become character; Watch your character, it becomes your destiny.”
– Lao Tzu
“Success is not final; Failure is not fatal; It is the courage to continue that counts.”
– Winston Churchill
