Founded in 1898, Peking University, initially known as the Imperial University of Peking, holds a significant place in the history of Chinese education. It was China's first comprehensive national university and served as the supreme education authority at the time. The university earned recognition from the British University Council in 1921. Since its establishment, Peking University has continually expanded its range of disciplines and has maintained its status as a leading institution of higher education in China.
In 2004, Peking University HSBC Business School (PHBS) was established. As Peking University’s youngest business school, it has rapidly built its reputation and is now recognized as a center of international excellence in business education. Committed to internationalization, PHBS has established two campuses: one in Shenzhen, China, and another at Boars Hill in Oxfordshire, United Kingdom. Both campuses reflect PHBS's dedication to providing world-class facilities and academic excellence. PHBS is one of the most dynamic and innovative business schools globally, offering programs that focus on in-depth subject learning in finance, management, and economics, with an emphasis on understanding China within a global context.
PHBS has achieved accreditation from AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS, joining the ranks of the elite few. There are 215 EQUIS-accredited schools across over 40 countries, and only about 1% of business schools worldwide are triple-accredited.
