Lord Mandelson visited Peking University HSBC Business School
Lord Mandelson, European Commissioner for Trade between 2004 and 2008, Chairman of Great Britain China Centre and Co-founder and Chairman of strategic advisory firm Global Counsel, visited our Peking University HSBC Business School, Shenzhen Campus, on the 4th December 2019. Lord Peter Mandelson is a British labour politician that served in various ministerial roles from 1997-2010, starting as Minister without Portfolio and ending as UK First Secretary of State. He is also the president of international think tank Policy Network, an international progressive think tank based in London.
After an Introduction of PHBS, made by Dean Wen Hai, there was an open discussion about one of the most important issues now and that may influence China: Brexit. Some of the items of the discussion were “The macro-judgment and interpretation of Sino-British and Sino-European geopolitics”; “The current status, trends of future development and major challenges of Chinese corporate investment and business operations in UK and Europe” and the “Development of PHBS, UK campus and exchange of possible supports from the UK”.
Richard Zhang, Chairman & CEO of Young Icebreakers Club - The 48Group Club, was also present at the meeting, as well as Benjamin Wegg-Prosser, Co-Founder and CEO of Global Counsel; Ryan Zhao, Executive Assistant of Young Icebreakers Club; Cary Ye, Head of International Education of Young Icebreakers Club, and Andrew Yeo, Senior Associate of Global Counsel.
From PHBS, besides the Dean and Vice Chairman of Peking University Council, Wen Hai, also took part of this meeting Wayne Chen, Director of Centre of Innovation and Entrepreneurship; Limei Che, Assistant Professor in Finance; Jaehyuk Choi, Assistant Professor in Finance; Yan Feng, Assistant Professor in Economics; Jiao Shi, Assistant Professor in Economics and Associate Director of Sargent Institute of Quantitative Economics and Finance; Cuifeng Weng, Assistant Professor in Economics and Jonathan Pearson, Senior Lecture.
After the meeting there was time to do a tour, on the PHBS building, and group photo to highlight this special occasion.
