Students at PHBS-UK have a range of accommodation options both on and off campus, including several halls of residence managed by PHBS-UK.
PHBS-UK manages two halls of residence: Building 2 (on campus) and Westminster Hall (off campus). Long-term students are guaranteed a room either in Building 2 or at Westminster Hall if applied by the deadline. The application is open to offer holders from May 2026.
As one of the world’s most iconic student cities, Oxford offers more than just elegant architecture of museums, galleries, cafés and pubs. The halls listed offer close access to a vibrant student community. They are not directly associated with the school, and students need to book the accommodation directly with the provider.
Many students choose to live in private rented accommodation during their studies at PHBS-UK. Private rentals can offer greater flexibility, a wider range of property types, and more choice over location and budget.
Here’s a few useful sites for students looking for private rental accommodation:
When comparing accommodation options, it is a good idea to consider:
Before agreeing to rent a property, you should try to view it first, either in person or through a verified live virtual viewing. Make sure you read the tenancy agreement carefully and understand the terms before signing.
To secure a property, you may be asked to pay:
Note that the exact payment requirements will depend on the landlord or letting agent.
Once you have agreed to rent a property, make sure you:
PHBS-UK is located in Boars Hill in southern Oxford city, so it is important to check commuting time, transport links, and route convenience before choosing accommodation. There are plenty of bike storage spaces on campus for cyclists.
Do not send money for a property that you have not viewed or properly verified. Be cautious of listings that ask for payment before a viewing or formal agreement.
Once you sign a tenancy agreement, you are usually responsible for the rent for the full contract period. Make sure you understand the tenancy length, notice conditions, and any charges before signing.
Some landlords or letting agents may require a UK guarantor. The school cannot act as a guarantor, and international students should check this early and ask whether alternative arrangements are available if needed.
If you rent in the private sector, your tenancy deposit should normally be protected in a government-approved scheme. Make sure you receive confirmation of this from the landlord or agent.
A detailed inventory can help protect your deposit at the end of your tenancy. Report any missing items or existing damage as soon as you move in.
International students should be aware that landlords or agents may check your Right to Rent as part of the rental process. You will usually be asked to provide documents such as proof of student status, evidence of funding and a share code to prove your immigration status.
