On Monday 6 February 2023, the UK woke up to the horrific news of how two 7.8 and 7.6-magnitude earthquakes levelled large areas of southern Turkey (officially known as Türkiye) and northern Syria. A week from this devastating earthquake, with the death toll still on the rise and rescue operations are racing to reach survivors amidst the tough conditions of freezing temperatures and unstable rubble, at PHBS-UK, we feel that it is our duty as part of the global community to heed the call for aid and help where we can. To help, PHBS-UK has started a donation drive amongst our staff and students as well as the local community of Boars Hill, Oxfordshire, to raise awareness and support for the survivors of this devastating earthquake.

With hundreds of thousands of homes destroyed, power down, bridges and roads damaged, and hospitals and urgent medical care inaccessible, millions of people displaced across Turkey (Türkiye) and Syria are in urgent need of help.
The PHBS-UK community feels deeply for the people of Turkey (Türkiye) and Syria and we sincerely hope that our donation and yours would go towards enabling the earthquake survivors get the urgent aid they need.
